confes[SI]o[NS] of a king examines power as a cycle rather than a possession. Throughout the work, crowns, ghosts, demons, weapons, and ruins trace a recurring pattern: the desire for power, the attainment of power, the abuse of power, and the eventual collapse of those who wield it.

The crown serves as the painting's central symbol. Suspended above a pile of skulls and surrounded by the marks of previous rulers, it becomes less an object of authority than a monument to impermanence. Kings die, empires fall, and systems decay into disorder, yet the desire to inherit power persists. Those who suffer beneath it are often drawn toward it, becoming participants in the very structures they once opposed.

Drawing from literature, music, mythology, military imagery, and American political culture, the work reflects on the ways violence, hierarchy, and control sustain themselves across generations. At its core, the painting asks whether humanity is capable of breaking these cycles—or whether each new era simply produces another claimant to the crown.
