TRANQUILIZER explores the role of pleasure, distraction, and escapism in a world defined by uncertainty. Created during a period marked by feelings of powerlessness and existential anxiety, the work examines the ways people seek comfort when confronted with fears that feel too large, complex, or persistent to resolve.

Through an intentionally overwhelming visual language of layered imagery, bright color, and pop cultural references, the painting mirrors the experience of navigating a constant stream of stimulation. Rather than offering relief, the accumulation of symbols and information invites viewers to consider how distraction can function as both refuge and avoidance.

The work does not ask whether pleasure is good or bad, but what purpose it serves. At what point does a coping mechanism become a barrier to self-understanding? When does comfort cease to heal and begin to numb? TRANQUILIZER exists within that uneasy space between survival and surrender.
